The South Plainfield Golf Association (SPGA) held its 11th Annual Golf Tournament on August 3rd at Gambler Ridge Golf Course. This was the 11th annual golf tournament held for the benefit of the South Plainfield High School Golf Team. There was a full roster with 144 golfers in the tournament. The weather was beautiful and everyone enjoyed a great day of golf and fun.

Food, beverages, and contests were going throughout the day. A special thanks once again to our Gold Sponsor Sal Severini of Sal's Spirit Shoppe and Frank Pascale of Café Vivace and their fine cooking crew of "Brother" Rob Hunt and Chet Czaplinski. Sal's new cast iron grill and smoker was broken in at the outing and his 20 chicken rotisserie was flaming all day! Man can these guys cook!! The burgers, dogs, and chicken were flowing from lunch to dinner. For dinner these guys served up some real good pasta, sausage, meatballs (including some of Lois Severini's special sauce), and beef brisket.
Thanks to all the parents and kids that worked the tournament – Jeannine DeAndrea, Robyn DeAndrea, Ashleigh Gaspari, Gary Gaspari, Lynne Gaspari, Dewy Gray, Janice Gray, Brian Hunt, Chelsea Hunt, Rob Hunt, Jeff Licato, JR Licato, Bissy Martin, Brad Martin, Patty Martin, Sam Martin, Lindsay Murtagh, Nancy Murtagh, Lenny Padula, and Vinny Padula.

Prizes were awarded for both men and women, including Low Team Score (Danny DeAndrea, Mike Butrico, Chris Czaplinski, Jonathan Fredericks ), Longest Drive Women (Kumi Fujii), Longest Drive Men (Kevin Flannery), Closest to the Pin (Vito Ratti), and Closest to the Line (Danny DeAndrea). There was a special hole-in-one prize (Infiniti Luxury Car) sponsored by Ray Catena. Nobody took home this prize but one golfer came within a foot of the Pin!

The SPGA and The High School Golf Team looks forward to the support of all the Golfers and Sponsors at next year's 12th Annual South Plainfield Open.

The scores for each player and other tournament results can be viewed at the SPGA web site (www.spga.org).
