The South Plainfield Golf Association (SPGA) held its 10th Annual South Plainfield Open on August 4TH at Gambler Ridge Golf Course.  This was the 10th annual golf tournament held for the benefit of the South Plainfield High School Golf Team.  There was almost a full roster with 132 golfers in the tournament. The weather was beautiful and everyone enjoyed a great day of golf and fun.

Food, beverages, and contests were on-going throughout the day, thanks to an outstanding crew of Sal (Bam) Severini, Chet Czaplinski , Dale Finn, Brother Rob Hunt, Paul Baldasare, Lynne Gaspari, Gary Gaspari, Toni Moretti, Nancy Murtagh, Kevin Murtagh, Lenny Padula, Maria DeAndrea, Robyn DeAndrea, Bissy Martin, and Patty Martin. They certainly know how to feed and entertain the guests!  As a special treat, Lois Severini donated 400 of her extraordinary homemade meatballs. Special thanks go to all the kids who participated, especially Ashleigh Gaspari, Lindsay Murtagh, and Chelsea Hunt.

Prizes were awarded for both men and women, including Low Gross Women (Cecilia DeLeon), Low Gross Men (Guy Severini), Low Net Women (Rose DeAndrea), Low Net Men (Frank Gaspari), Low Team Score (Joe Campana, Bill White, Kevin Brady, Irv Brown), Longest Drive Women (Rose DeAndrea), Longest Drive Men (Mike "Moe" Alvarez), Closest to the Pin Women (Kumi Fujii), Closest to the Pin Men (Tom Snicsak), and Closest to the Line (Jack Mieczkowski).  There was a special hole-in-one prize (Infiniti Luxury Car) sponsored by Ray Catena. Nobody took home this prize, but there were a several golfers that came within a couple feet of the Pin!
