SOUTH PLAINFIELD GOLF ASSOCIATION
2003
SOUTH PLAINFIELD OPEN
GOLF TOURNAMENT

By Ken Martin

The South Plainfield Golf Association (SPGA) held the 9th Annual South Plainfield Open Golf Tournament on August 6th at Bunker Hill Golf Course. This was the 9th annual golf tournament held for the benefit of the South Plainfield High School Golf Team. There was almost a full roster with 124 golfers registering for the tournament. The weather was beautiful and everyone enjoyed a great day of golf and fun. Food and beverage was served throughout the day and special thanks in this category goes to an outstanding crew of Sal ("Bam") Severini, Jay Copolla, Chet Czaplinski, and Jimmy Patti. They certainly know how to feed and entertain the guests! Thanks to Lois Severini for donating 400 of her special homemade meatballs!!

Prizes were awarded for both men and women, including Low Gross Women (Darlyne Raciti), Low Gross Men (Jason Bataille), Low Net Women (Christina Coleman), Low Net Men (Richard O'Connor), Low Team Score (Joe Campana, Bill White, Kevin Brady, Irv Brown), Longest Drive Women (Rose DeAndrea), Longest Drive Men (Jason Bataille), Closest to the Pin (Mike DiCindio). There was a special hole-in-one prize (Infiniti FX35 SUV) sponsored by Ray Catena. Nobody took home this prize but there were a couple people that came within a couple feet of the Pin!

The SPGA and The High School Golf Team looks forward to the support of all the Golfers and Sponsors at next year's 10th Annual. The scores for each player and other tournament results can be viewed at the SPGA web site (www.spga.org).
